Meeting with His Excellency Mr. Osama bin Ahmed Al-Asfour, Minister of Social Development

On Monday, 05/22/2023, a delegation from the Bahrain Lawyers Association, headed by Professor Lawyer Hassan Ahmed Badaiwi, Chairman of the Board of Directors, met with His Excellency Mr. Osama bin Ahmed Al-Asfour, Minister of Social Development, This is to discuss a number of obstacles that the association faced in its relations with the Ministry in its capacity as supervisor of the work of civil society organizations. Including the difficulty of communicating with the NGO Support Department, There was also a delay in issuing some of the approvals necessary for the association’s work.

During the meeting, a number of issues related to the laws and procedures regulating the work of civil society organizations and civil society institutions were also discussed. The association stressed the need to take into account the nature of the work of professional associations in particular.
For his part, His Excellency the Minister praised the association’s efforts at the local and international levels. He stressed the need for periodic review and cooperation to develop regulations and laws.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the President of the Society extended his sincere thanks to His Excellency the Minister for his quick and generous response, good reception, understanding of the needs and aspirations of the Bahraini Lawyers Society, and issuing his directives to those concerned to quickly review the Society’s requests.
