Seminar on the tasks and powers of the General Secretariat of Grievances

The Bahrain Bar Association held on Monday evening, 04/09/2022, the first Ramadan evening in a series of cultural evenings held by the association during the holy month of Ramadan. This evening was entitled “The tasks and powers of the General Secretariat of Grievances” in the presence and participation of His Excellency Mr. Nawaf bin Mohammed Al-Maawda, Secretary-General of the General Secretariat of Grievances. The first Ramadan cultural activities came with a cultural evening that touched on an important topic: In the presence of a large number of lawyers, The Secretary General of Grievances spoke this evening about the most important tasks and powers assigned to the General Secretariat of Grievances in accordance with what was stated in the Royal Decree that stipulated the establishment of the Secretariat. He explained its role in investigating, independently and impartially, the complaints submitted to it against employees of the Ministry of Interior as a result of the violations attributed to them due to or in connection with the performance of their work duties. He also explained the role of the secretariat in receiving requests for assistance from prisoners and detainees or from their families. At the end of the evening, the Secretary-General highlighted the Commission for the Rights of Prisoners and Detainees as a pioneering model that embodies the role of human rights in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
At the end of the evening, the Secretary General of Grievances thanked the Board of Directors of the Bahraini Lawyers Association for organizing this evening. The Association took this opportunity to honor His Excellency for his active participation in enriching the cultural activities held by the Association, which demonstrates the Secretariat’s interest in active community participation.
