The Bahraini Lawyers Association sent a letter to His Excellency the Minister of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments, stating that despite the passage of three years since the issuance of Law No. 13 of 2020 on June 11, 2020, which abolished the Rental Disputes Committee and made the jurisdiction to hear all rental disputes to the High Civil Court, and to appeal them to the The Civil Supreme Court of Appeal notes the following:
- The electronic system of the Ministry of Justice still contains the option to file cases before the Rental Disputes Committee.
- The same system also contains the option of appealing the committee’s rulings before the Grand Court of Appeal.
- Rental lawsuit announcements are still printed and sent in the name of the Rental Disputes Committee.
- Signs in the Ministry building in the Diplomatic Area still indicate the presence of the Rental Disputes Committee.
This results in misunderstanding among the public as well as great suspicion among litigants, auditors, and new lawyers. Which may cause embarrassment to lawyers when dealing with their clients when there is a discrepancy between what is announced in your esteemed ministry and what they decide for their clients.
In its letter, the association demanded that the designations announced in the Ministry of Justice building and the Ministry’s electronic system be corrected in accordance with what was stipulated in the law.
